[UPDATE] GO Fest Details and Other Real-World Events

Niantic just released details on the upcoming Pokémon GO Fest in Chicago. If you are not able to go, don't fret! These events don't just involve players inside the event, but all the players worldwide, and so are the rewards! If the Ash Hat Pikachu made you sigh, this announcement will definitely make you excited.

On July 22, there will be three challenge windows which Trainers from all over the world will need to team up with those inside the GO Fest in Chicago so they can unlock rewards. During these challenge windows, trainers in GO Fest Chicago will try to unlock bonuses for Pokémon GO players worldwide by catching certain types, each type corresponding to a certain bonus. As an example, Grass types will unlock increased Stardust bonus.

While players in GO Fest Chicago control what bonus we'll get, players outside must catch as many Pokémon as they possibly can to extend the duration of the bonus that is being unlocked inside GO Fest Chicago. As seen in the picture above, it can be extended up to 48 hours, possibly even more than that once we unlocked the Gold Medal. Once the Gold Medal is unlocked, a mystery challenge will be revealed inside GO Fest Chicago. Completing it will unlock an extra-special bonus to all players worldwide.
